The three short courses for kids and beginners that we offer are:

- ABCD of Data Science – for Kids and Beginners
- Working With Microsoft Office
The learning objectives of our short course on the Fundamentals of Computers and Internet include the following:
Understanding basic computer hardware components: Students would be able to identify and describe key hardware components of a computer, such as the central processing unit (CPU), monitor, keyboard, and mouse.
Developing basic computer skills: Students would acquire essential skills like using a mouse and keyboard effectively, navigating the computer’s operating system, managing files and folders.
Introduction to software applications: Students will get introduced to software applications like word processors, spreadsheets, and web browsers. They will learn how to open, save, and edit files and to perform basic formatting and editing tasks.
Introduction to Internet browsing and searching: Students would learn how to use a web browser to navigate websites and perform basic Internet searches. They will understand how to evaluate the credibility and reliability of online sources.
Internet safety and responsible online behaviour: Students would understand the importance of online security and learn how to protect themselves while using the internet. It includes concepts like creating secure passwords, avoiding sharing personal information online and recognizing and avoiding online risks and scams.
Introduction to email communication: Students should learn how to create and send emails and manage their email accounts effectively. They will also be made aware of proper email etiquette and understand the importance of clear and concise communication.
Basic coding and programming concepts: Introducing students to the basics of coding and programming through interactive and age-appropriate activities. It can include concepts like sequencing, loops, and conditionals using block-based programming languages or simple coding exercises.
Problem-solving and critical thinking skills: Encouraging students to think critically and develop problem-solving skills through interactive activities and puzzles related to computer usage and troubleshooting common issues.
We will consider the age and skill level of the kids when designing the learning objectives to ensure they are appropriate and achievable.
The learning objectives of our short course on the ABCD of Data Science for Kids and Beginners include the following:
Understanding the concept of data: Introducing the concept of data and helping students to understand that data is information. We will teach them to identify and differentiate between different types of data, such as numbers, text, images, and videos.
Introduction to data analysis: Teaching students basic data analysis techniques, such as sorting, organizing, and summarizing data using tables, charts, and graphs, and helping them to interpret the information presented in visual representations.
Introduction to data visualization: Introducing the concept of data visualization and teaching students how to create simple and informative visual representations of data using charts and graphs.
Introduction to coding and programming: Introducing students to coding and programming concepts through interactive and age-appropriate activities and teaching them basic programming concepts, such as variables, loops, and conditionals, using block-based programming languages or simple coding exercises.
Introduction to data science tools: Familiarizing students with data science tools and software that allow them to explore and analyze data in a simplified manner.
Real-life applications of data science: Providing examples of how data science is in use in various fields, such as healthcare, sports, and weather forecasting, and helping students to understand how data science can provide insights and solutions to real-world problems.
Hands-on projects and activities: Engaging students in hands-on projects and activities that allow them to apply their learning and reinforce key concepts. Providing opportunities for them to explore data, conduct simple analyses, and create visualizations.
The learning objectives of our short course on Working with Microsoft Office include the following:
Proficiency in Microsoft Word: Teaching participants to create and format documents using Microsoft Word. It includes learning how to create, edit, and format text, use styles, and templates, insert images and graphics, apply page layout options, and utilize features like headers, footers, and page numbering.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel: It involves providing a comprehensive understanding of Microsoft Excel. We will cover topics such as creating and formatting spreadsheets, performing calculations and formulas, working with functions, sorting and filtering data, creating charts and graphs, and utilizing data analysis tools.
Competence in Microsoft PowerPoint: Enabling participants to create dynamic and engaging presentations using Microsoft PowerPoint. It includes teaching them to create slides, apply themes and layouts, insert multimedia elements, use slide transitions and animations, and deliver effective presentations.
Time-saving tips and shortcuts: To equip participants with time-saving tips, tricks, and keyboard shortcuts to increase efficiency and productivity while working with Microsoft Office applications.
Troubleshooting common issues: This includes equipping participants with basic troubleshooting skills to address common challenges that may arise while working with Microsoft Office applications.
